The Difference between a Gold Filled and Gold Plated

Gold filled could sometimes be understood the same as Gold plated. This is a common mistake in the antique jewelry industry.

Gold-filled jewelry composed of a solid layer of gold (typically constituting at least 5% of the items total weight) mechanically bonded to a base of either sterling silver or some base metal. Actually, it is more valuable than the Gold plated jewelry. It is 5 to 10 times thicker than that of a regular gold plating and 15 to 25 times thicker than that of gold electroplate.

Most high-quality Gold-filled pieces have the same appearance as high carat gold, and most of the gold-filled jewelry are durable, depending on the wear, the gold can last 10 to 30 years.

Gold Filled: Solid gold is rolled out into a sheet and then applied to a base metal through heat - applying a thick plate of gold

Electroplated Gold: A thin layer of solid gold added to a base metal through the use of electricity, slightly thicker than gold plate.

Gold Plated: A thin layer of solid gold added to jewelry - can be rubbed off easily.

Mis-Match Fashion is Fun!

We were born with the idea that everything has to match, such as a pair of shoes, jewelry, socks, gloves and etc.

Way back in my teenage life, I saw a young lady walking on a street with different shoes, and at that time, I said to myself that something is wrong, or probably just that one of her shoes was missing, but a part of me was also liking it, it was like a fun to watch... then I forgot.

Just recently I realized that it does exist. Yes, it is out of the normal... but what is normal really?
It is a rule-breaking trend!

The mismatch is a fun custom that has been observed in schools as well as colleges, universities, and workplace. There are mismatch parties as well. The whole idea behind it is that people wear clothing and others that do not match at all. It is completely contrary to what we believe as normal.

It all started in the street and trickled up, and it is now popping up on the red carpet and in the fashion show. It is indeed a purposeful mismatch.

Everyone surely wants to make their own fashion statement! Then don't conform, and do something that is the unexpected in your fashion style.

COZY, ESSENTIAL WINTER FASHION

It is Winter, Yes it is. How difficult it is to get out from your bed with a freezing weather, but it is always a heap when you know why you have to. Fashion!

Winter probably is one of the most important seasons of the year. Why? We’ll probably because it requires much of preparation in all aspect. The whole atmosphere is cold, nights are long and days are short. The winter wind blows all the time.

When going out there in a cold weather, the key to getting it right isn’t just a solid pair of snow boots. To truly achieve peak cozy- the ultimate winter triumph is to stock up o the essential, which is basically anything that’ll make you want to stay on your couch with a hot toddy in hand and also go initiate a snowball fight at the same time. This means small collection sweaters (both thin and chunky) that serve as base layers for whatever you do, a few versatile hoodies that can wear to balance out the formality of a plaid blazer or to take a midday nap on your couch, a mix of crazy-soft blanket scarves that’ll make you feel like a swaddled infant, and a long-line coat to top it all off, should you decide to actually go out. You know the basics.

Please check this out:

It is always essential to have a gear and be ready whether staying in or braving the cold. Warm clothes are definitely important.

Being beautiful, confident and comfortable!

Have you ever seen women after the night out have gone home walking or might probably be running comfortably barefoot and heels on hand? I would say, I am one those ladies. Women always wanted to look beautiful, to feel elegant with that pretty pair of high heeled shoes. But what is next? Are we, or are you comfortable?

As Marilyn Monroe once said, “Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world”, but again, what is “right” for women nowadays?

I always carry a spare pair of flat shoes with me especially if I am wearing high heels (and I know I am not alone). Having high heels on can make the wearer feel more confident, and with my “not so tall” height, I like to be on high heels at work or even roaming around to enhance my presence,  but for long-term, they aren’t comfortable.

But what if one pair of shoes could do both jobs, being confident and comfortable. There are two small shoemaking firms, one in France and one in Germany, think they might have the solution for this quest -  women’s shoes that come with interchangeable heels.

Women’s shoes with interchangeable heels, allow women to change their style from casual to professional, fancy to comfortable, low to high, or just simply for everyday wear. There are a few firms that developed footwear with removable heels but not so successful. Some also attempt to, but the look was awful and didn’t really work. Works have been done until people started to appreciate and see the importance of this design for women. Some women love to wear high heels, but many would much rather choose the comfort of the flats.

You can be beautiful, confident, stylish and comfortable if you have the “right” shoes. Surely, convertible heels or say removable heels are a blessing for those who want to change style frequently.

The Engagement Ring of Today!

It is believed that the tradition of the engagement ring was first documented and originated from the Roman custom in which wives wore rings attached to small keys, which portray their husbands’ ownership.

In 1477, Archduke Maximilian of Austria commissioned the very first diamond engagement ring on record for his betrothed, Mary of Burgundy. The ring is presented as a gift by a partner to their prospective spouse when they propose marriage. It is a formal agreement to future marriage.

When it comes to famous engagement rings, there are diamonds, and then there are diamonds, just in Jacqueline Kennedy’s engagement ring where the diamond and an emerald surrounded by more diamonds. From famous Queen of England, Lady Diana Spencer, Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, Mia Farrow from Frank Sinatra, to a lot more famous personality around the world. Engagement rings made it statement worldwide.

Over the past decades or so, a phenomenon has begun to emerge in the engagement ring world, whereby couples purposely try to go for the most original and unconventional colors available wedding engagement stones. Such commonly seen right now are black diamonds, pearls and even uniquely design wood that challenge the long-established diamond and gold props, which actually to a certain degree is successful.

One of the noticeable and latest aspirant right now and certainly growing are the turquoise gemstones used for engagement rings. This stones has long been a favorite for those who are seeking for unique and sophistication; it has its elegant look. Turquoise gemstones have a very special role in our history and it passes on through stories and legends.

Turquoise to both a color and gemstones, the turquoise usually denotes a greenish hue, though there are several more or less blue-tinted variations, a “pure” turquoise is the same color as the gemstones it derives its name from. Today, turquoise continues to retain its popularity and reputation as a symbol of sophistication, class and wealth, which might explain the popularity of turquoise engagement rings among the fashionable couples.

What is the correct way to measure your ring size?

Most of you probably are not really aware the size of your ring. You might have bought a ring for yourself online and just realize that it is bigger or smaller, or might have gifted to someone and then came out the same way, it is very small or very big.

In order to get away with the same mistake, you need to know exactly your ring size and /or the giftee as well.

There are factors to consider, but let's be direct, I got this from one of the articles I encountered online, and I wanted to share it with you as well, just in case you still don't know.

Here's is the easiest way to find your size at home.

When measuring, always measure the specific finger you are fitting for the most accurate results.

Here's how to find your exact ring size

If by any chance you are in-between sizes, it's best to go larger so that the ring clears your knuckles comfortably, or worst scenario, it is always possible to resize a ring, but best to get the right one.

Today's Fashion! Really?

I came across to this photo, and just I realized how crazy it is today's fashion. I am not sure, but probably this is a logical progression of the whole torn jeans trend, or just being crazy! But definitely, this is exceptional. Just like an outfit from a crime scene. The designer must be thinking of something else.

Are we doing this today?

SOMETHING, A gift from the heart!

My husband went for a one week trip to Peru for a family affair. Just this week he came back with a little surprise for me. It is quite simple yet beautiful, a pair of teardrop design dangle earrings. I definitely love it, YES I do!

Sharing you the photos of my beautiful pair of earrings!

He loves to give something, something so simple, something small to something extravagant. What matters most is the effort, the thought and the meaning behind that surprise gift. I feel so special and of course, loved. Something to treasure for the years to come.
